Plain-English summary: Postcast runs mostly in your browser. The videos you create stay on your device. We collect your email and basic account info to let you sign in, and we use Stripe for payments. We don't sell your data. You can delete your account anytime.

1. Who we are

This Privacy Policy applies to Postcast and related services at toolsfornews.com, operated by After Video, Inc., a New York corporation located in Astoria, Queens, New York, USA ("we," "us," "our").

2. What data we collect

We collect the minimum data needed to operate the Service. Specifically:

What we DON'T collect

Your content. The screenshots, images, text, and videos you process in Postcast stay on your device. They are not uploaded to our servers.
Payment details. Credit card numbers go directly to Stripe; we never see them.
Biometric data, browsing history outside our site, or data from other services.

3. Legal basis (GDPR)

If you're in the EU, UK, or a country applying GDPR-equivalent rules, we process your data based on:

Performance of a contract — to provide the Service you signed up for (account, subscription, features).
Legitimate interests — to secure the Service, prevent fraud, and improve functionality, balanced against your privacy interests.
Consent — where you explicitly opt in (e.g., if we later add marketing emails with an opt-in checkbox).
Legal obligation — to comply with tax, accounting, and fraud-prevention laws.

4. How we use your data

To let you create and access your account;
To enforce tier limits (daily export caps, resolution, recording length);
To process payments and manage your subscription via Stripe;
To send essential emails (account confirmation, subscription changes, critical Service announcements);
To respond to your support requests;
To detect, prevent, and address fraud, abuse, or security threats;
To comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service.

We do not use your data for advertising, tracking across sites, or profile-building. We don't sell or rent your personal data to anyone.

5. Who we share data with

We share data only with service providers who help us run Postcast, under strict contractual obligations:

Supabase (Supabase, Inc., USA) — authentication, database, Edge Functions hosting. Supabase Privacy
Stripe (Stripe, Inc., USA) — payment processing and subscription management. Stripe Privacy
Hostinger (Hostinger International Ltd.) — website hosting. Hostinger Privacy

We may also disclose information if legally required (subpoena, court order), to protect rights, safety, or property, or as part of a corporate transaction (merger, acquisition, sale of assets) — in which case we'll notify you.

6. International data transfers

Our service providers are primarily located in the United States. If you are in the EU, UK, or another region, your data may be transferred to and processed in the US. We rely on standard contractual clauses and adequacy decisions where applicable to protect your data during these transfers.

7. How long we keep your data

Active accounts: as long as your account exists.
Deleted accounts: we delete personal data within 30 days of your deletion request, except where we must retain it for legal reasons (tax records, fraud prevention — typically up to 7 years for billing-related data).
Export logs: retained for 90 days to enforce tier limits, then aggregated or deleted.
Stripe records: retained by Stripe under their policies; we cannot control Stripe's retention.

8. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the following rights:

Access — ask what data we hold about you;
Correction — have inaccurate data corrected;
Deletion — ask us to delete your account and associated data;
Portability — receive your data in a machine-readable format;
Restriction — limit how we process your data;
Objection — object to certain kinds of processing (e.g., legitimate-interest based);
Withdraw consent — where we rely on consent;
Non-discrimination (CCPA) — we won't deny service or raise prices for exercising these rights.

9. Cookies and similar tech

Postcast uses only essential storage mechanisms (localStorage, authentication cookies) to keep you signed in and remember your preferences. We don't use third-party advertising cookies, tracking pixels, or analytics trackers that profile users.

Stripe may set its own cookies when you visit the Stripe Customer Portal or checkout page; those are governed by Stripe's Cookie Policy.

10. Children's privacy

Postcast is not directed to children under 13 (or under 16 in the EU/UK). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact info@toolsfornews.com and we will delete it.

11. Security

We use industry-standard security measures including HTTPS encryption, hashed passwords, and access controls on our backend systems. However, no system is 100% secure — we cannot guarantee absolute security. If you believe your account has been compromised, contact us immediately.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If changes are material, we'll notify registered users by email and update the "Effective" date at the top. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect indicates acceptance.

13. California residents (CCPA)

If you're a California resident, you have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA), including the right to know what personal information we collect, the right to delete, the right to correct, and the right to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information.
